MISSION

Posthuman Docs is the studio of filmmaker, editor and researcher Kylian Weijers. A space where posthuman theory meets documentary. The goal is to reimagine documentary through a posthuman lens: as a practice, a medium, and a form of connection.

Rooted in a posthumanist and feminist vision, the studio explores how documentary can center multiplicity, agency and interdependence, rather than reproducing a singular, dominant gaze. It gives space to voices and perspectives often overlooked or misunderstood – while challenging extractive modes of storytelling through research, collaboration and co-creation.

Posthuman Docs is part of a growing movement to develop documentary culture — in the Netherlands and across digital communities. It supports a new generation in (re)imagining themselves and their place in a world that is shifting, entangled, and full of potential.

POSTHUMANISM

Posthuman Docs draws from posthuman and feminist thought to rethink what stories are, how they’re made, and who they are for.

Posthumanism challenges the human as the center — and asks how stories emerge through relation: between bodies, technologies, language, nature, and time.

In our practice, this means embracing fluid identity, co-creation, and collective inquiry. We don’t tell stories from the outside — we work from within, always asking: who speaks, who listens, and what worlds are made in the process?

Rooted in Rosi Braidotti’s ethics of affirmation, we see documentary not as reflection, but as relation — a space of care, respons-ability, and becoming. An ethics grounded in connection, not guilt, and in the creative potential of transformation.

WORK

Posthuman Docs is Kylian’s site of practice and research — shaped by nearly a decade of interdisciplinary experience in the media industry and a Master's in Documentary & Fiction at the University of Amsterdam, where his thesis explored documentary ethics, posthumanism, and the filmmaker-subject relationship.

Through film, sound, installation and hybrid formats, the studio develops projects that challenge form as much as content.

Work at Posthuman Docs is constantly evolving — shaped by the people we work with and the stories we co-create. Every project begins with deep listening, and is guided by curiosity, care, and a commitment to craft and critical thinking.
